USPS Standard International Shipping to Mexico in 2025

I’m now in to my 23rd year of living in Mexico and have never had faith in having a package shipped from the USA to Mexico. I’m glad to say that things have massively improved on the Mexican side as USPS no longer uses MexPost as it’s partner, beforehand packages would take a lifetime to arrive or they would often go missing once entering Mexico.

I purchased a used item on Ebay USA in early March 2025. Ebay charge you the international shipping to Mexico, at the time of writing their US international shipping partner was USPS, the type of shipping service allocated was the standard international package service. Ebay also charge you the appropriate amount due on import taxes to Mexico.

The seller promptly shipped the item which was now in the hands of USPS, it took USPS two weeks to move the package from California to the USPS international logistics partner in the USA called Asendia (owned by Swiss and French Post). The package remained in a Asendia USA hub for another week, during this time the package also cleared US customs ready for export.

The package finally arrived with the Mexican import customs service after 22 days of moving like a snail in the USA, the package then quickly cleared through the customs service in Mexico City.

The next part blew me away, the package was then passed to the Mexican shipping company “QualityPost” and it arrived at my home the following day around midday, I’m located in Queretaro which is 135 miles / 217 km North from Mexico City. The total amount of shipping time was 23.5 days and only 1.5 days of that was the internal shipping time within Mexico.

There has been an explosion of private Mexican shipping / last mile delivery companies within the last four years, this is mainly due to the volume of goods coming in from China from internet sites like Temu and Aliexpress. Luckily these shipping companies are teaming up with other shipping logistic companies to handle packages coming in from other countries like the USA.
